Before you book

Six things that change the final price more than the daily rate does.

Deposit

Most companies block a deposit on a credit card in the main driver's name. Local agencies often ask for less. Check the amount before you book.

Excess

Basic insurance usually leaves an excess of several hundred euros. Full or zero-excess cover removes it, at a daily cost.

Fuel policy

Choose full-to-full. Full-to-empty means paying the company's fuel price for a tank you rarely use up.

Electronic tolls

Portugal and parts of Italy and Spain use toll gantries with no booths. Ask for the toll device at pick-up.

Low-emission zones

Rome, Florence, Barcelona, Madrid and others restrict or camera-fine traffic in their centres. Park outside and walk in.

Crossing borders

Driving into another country or onto a ferry often needs written permission and an extra fee. Ask before you go.

Questions

Is getRentera a rental company?

No. getRentera is a comparison site. When you choose an offer, you book directly with our partner, Localrent or EconomyBookings, on their secure site.

Why do prices say “from” and “typical”?

They are starting and average prices we checked on public price pages. They are not live quotes. The exact price for your dates appears on the partner site.

Do I pay more by booking through getRentera?

No. You pay the partner's price. We may earn a commission from the partner, which doesn't change what you pay.

Can I rent without a credit card?

Some local agencies accept debit cards, often only with their full insurance. Check the payment terms on the offer before you book.

What age do I need to be?

Usually 21 or older with a licence held for at least one year. Drivers under 25 or over 70 may pay a fee. Untick the age box in the search to enter your age.

Who do I contact about my booking?

The partner you booked with handles payments, changes and cancellations. You can still email us at info@getrentera.net and we'll point you to the right place.
